[BVSS PSG] PSG AGM on Sat 30 Jan 10am - 1pm at BVSS School Library

Dear Parents,

The PSG will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sat 30 Jan, from 10am to 1pm at the BVSS School Library.

I would like to take this opportunity to record my Thanks to the PSG Committee for 2009, and the fantastic support from the active and enthusiatic Parent Volunteers. Without such support, we would not be able to organise the many PSG and SFE activities last year.

If you are keen to know what programmes we have planned for Jan to March, please do join us at the AGM on Sat 30 Jan.
Perhaps you would like to step forward as a Parent Volunteer, or help organise activities as a PSG Committee member.

You are most welcome!

Or you may just want to share some ideas or suggestions on what activities you would like to see this year.

I would like to extend a special invitation to the parents of our Sec 1 students.
Your child has started on a different phase of his/her life.
And we, as parents, can help our children enjoy and progress in their secondary school life, through a strong partnership with the School.

Please join us as a Parent Volunteer, and strengthen the bond you have with your child through his/her teenage years!

The PSG AGM provides a good opportunity for us to interact and mingle with each other.

Do keep Saturday free as we would very much like to see you on 30 Jan at the BVSS School Library.

Lunch (halal) will be provided.

Please let Francyn know via email (to francyn@singnet.com.sg) or sms to 9780-9782 by Tuesday 26 Jan so that we can cater lunch for you.

If you have any dietary requests, please let her know too, so she can make the necessary arrangements.

Warm Regards,
William Tan
Chairman, BVSS PSG

Facebook & blogging workshop 23 Jan (Sat) 9 am - 12 noon

Hi BVSS Parents!

You have heard about Facebook, Twitter and Blogging and you know your teens are the experts in navigating Cyber Space.

If you feel lost and wonder what they’re up to, fret no more – we have organized a class to bring you up to speed, so that you can understand SOME of the terms your child uses, and to be able to navigate the CyberWorld on your own.

Its Easy! Its Fun!

And Best of all, you can forge stronger bonds with your teen if you both speak the same language!

Come join Parent Volunteer Joanne Teo and her team of student assistants as they guide you and your child through this exciting world of Facebook and Blogging. Your teen will also be encouraged to join Facebook as a means to bond with BVSS (We even have a Facebook Group!)

So come along this Saturday to Bedok View Secondary School , from 9am – 12noon, and be amazed and impressed by how smart your teens really are.

I have attached the ePoster, and you are very welcome to call me if you need more information.

By the way, this class is FREE for the Bedok View Family!

So what are you waiting for?

Email your name and contact, plus your child’s name (do persuade him or her to accompany you!) to francyn@singnet. com.sg

Warm regards,

Article from The New Paper dated 13 Jan 2010

The New Paper article “Back in control of her life” trailed Maria Giarmuli Adlia’s learning experience in Bedok View Secondary as she struggled with and finally overcome anorexia and depression with the care and support of her teachers and family members. She eventually scored five distinctions in her GCE`O’.

BVSS news in STOMP

www.stomp.com. sg reported the achievements of BVSS students in their “O” levels results with 48 students scoring 5 distinctions and above and a record number of students scoring eight distinctions!

Congratulations to all students who have done well in the GCE `O’ Level examination.
